Devotional questions for individual/family/group discussion:

  1. What were Israel’s living conditions in the years prior to the book of Deuteronomy? How does this inform the commands in Deut. 11:1?

  2. How does John 14:15 help us to understand the connection between love and obedience?

  3. Is it harder for you to obey God or enjoy God? Why do you think this is? How do these two things feed each other?

  4. How does our understanding of God’s character help us to obey Him? When we refuse to obey, what does that say about our understanding of His character?

  5. What do you spend the majority of your time doing at this phase of your life? What does it look like to glorify God in that area?
