Statement
"Our vision is to be a growing and committed
family of believers that lives to see, savor, and show the glory
of God."
"
A Growing and Committed Family of Believers" - In the
gospel of John it says, "...to all who received [Jesus Christ],
to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children
of God" (John
1:12). We live in a time when long-term, committed relationships are
scarce and the concept of "family" has become vague and confused.
At Meadowcroft, we emphasize our deep unity in Christ and strive to
love and care for one another as a real spiritual family. However,
this
isn't an exclusive family; there's always room for more at our table,
and we are eager to welcome all seekers and believers.
"
...that lives to see...the glory of God." - The glory of God is
a clear view of His power, beauty, excellence, and perfection. Ultimately,
we see God's glory most clearly in Jesus Christ - “The Son is
the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being,
sustaining all things by His powerful word.” (Hebrews 1:3). At
Covenant, we long to be a radically God-centered church, where our
prayer is like that of Moses on Mt. Sinai: "Lord, show me your
glory".
"
...that lives to...savor...the glory of God." - People
try to fill their lives with many things in order to satisfy the hunger
and
fill the emptiness in their souls. By God's grace, we have found that
the only satisfaction for the longing of our hearts is in savoring
the view of God's glory that is revealed in His creation, in His Word
(the Bible), in His Son, and in His work among us. At Meadowcroft,
we long not only to see His glory, but to savor it in our worship,
prayers,
fellowship, and service. We seek the elusive combination of strong
Biblical doctrine and passionate worship and service.
"
...that lives to...show the glory of God." - We understand
that the joy and pleasure that we receive from seeing and experiencing
God's
glory in His Word and His work is not to be kept to ourselves. Our
joy in glory of the Lord is not complete until we share it with someone
else. At Meadowcroft, we long to be effective in communicating the
life-changing message of the Gospel to those both near and far, because
in Jesus
Christ we have found our deepest longings to be filled. We know that
He will do the same for all who will receive Him by faith.
